· I really don't understand all the fuss and criticism on the Sexualiti Merdeka Festival. How could something that is suppose to educate and enlighten people be bad? It's not even promoting homosexual lifestyle or anything, it's all about making the populace understand be and be more accepting of these people..peeps what's your say in this?

PaulX And that is exactly what the Festival is about. To let them know that this minority exists in Malaysia, and to help them to change their mindset regarding it. This is in no way a gay parade, an orgy or anything lurid...the people need to understand it properly before condemning it

PaulX You talk as if they choose to be gay or lesbian. Homosexuality is not a disease or a mental condition. How can you change something that comes naturally to you? PaulX Our way of thinking. We need to know that gays or lesbians are normal people too, despite the different sexual preference. How they live their lives (and have sex with) is entirely their own affair. This is to help eliminate any discrimination against these people. Yes, we might not agree with them, but it doesn't mean we need to deny them the same opportunity as others. That is the purpose of this event. Hopefully more events like this will be held in the future.

PaulX Yes, I know the story of the Sodomites in the Bible. And of course there's many negative effects if they are having sex indiscriminately. But since then, people have learn many ways to curb this, such as safe sex and having only single partners. Plus, what's the talk about less survival of humanity when there's advanced technology like artificial insemination? And though many things can help to shape a person in adult life, can you explain a gay man or lesbian woman who are what they are despite having a 'normal' upbringing? There are gay men out there who are just like straight ones. Please, don't think gays are just transvestites or transsexuals only. That is so narrow minded of you people..=P

actually, when we always thinking freely without any guided from the God references, we will lose track friends.. we here on earth has the aim. we are given such a holy qoran or bible(yours) to guide us. we are not fight for our thinking. we have to respect the other religion as we want to live in peacefullness. we have to accept it. we live in malaysia with majority. we cant simply ignore the majority believe because it is such a rude.you should make any research on this believe. anyway, as i said, people should back to the natural state by any effort because when a child live on earth, they like a piece of white paper, they is natural. the parents, environment will influence them in becoming the good or bad ones. it is all about willing to change. the other creatures live in same way. they have to strunggle to find the food even they they have no instict. make it easier and not feel angry because when we lose control, we will lose balancing in thinking which influence by setan.im not intended to blame whOever here, but i just want to give some opinions.

Your opinion is, as I expected, typical of those who shared it with you. Condescending and bigoted. I'm sorry, but I still don't see it the way you do. You are implying that people choose to be gay/lesbian, and that being a homo is just another form of debauchery (maksiat). Indeed, you betray your contempt and disdain for these people, which is definitely a form of discrimination against them. Once again, I state my belief that being a homo is as normal as being straight, and though you might find it distasteful, you need to accept it and instead try to change your point of view regarding them.
My religion (Roman Catholicism), also regards homosexuality as something contrary to the will of God. But I believe that God's power extended beyond those written in the Bible or any other sacred writing. If God can make man and woman fall in love with each other, there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to make man and man or vice versa felt the same way. Saying that it against God's nature is like understating the power of God himself. Indeed, the power of God is in the many possibilities in this world, rather than in passages of scripture of any religion. Heck, the Bible itself is (although divinely inspired), is written by man, and is subject to man's limitation and point of view. hence, it doesn't even begin to describe God's infinite powers. Bottom line is that not everything is written in the Bible or Quran or other sacred writing. So we need to open up our mind and accept every possibility. No need to talk about the end of the world or the disasters happening recently. It's the work of everyone, not just gays or lesbians.
I also disagree with you that this event should be stopped just to appease the majority. In the first place, why is the majority offended, and is the offense supposedly committed merit the wrath that they show the organizers? Do they even understand the real motive of the event, or just lashing out just because they hear the word 'sex"? And even if it is stopped anyway, do you think that it is okay to leave it as it is? Are you okay with the rights of minority being trampled just to make the majority happy?
And I don't see why you should blame Western influence on everything that is wrong in our society. The baby throwing (buang bayi) thing, is that a Western import? As far as I know, the people there took care of their baby or give them to adoption if they don't want them. Only here people do that to avoid the shame, the social stigma and of course, the censure of people like you.
